    Context

Nuclear 2010 continues to address the major objectives and challenges facing research and technology for nuclear energy today in the context of the increase of the energy supply security and the reduction of the green house-gas emissions.
The first two editions of this Conference, were attended by participants from all over the world: Canada, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, South-Africa, UK, China, Egypt, Lybia, Koreea, Japan, and Romania, representing well known research centers, universities, governmental organizations, nuclear industry.

The proceedings of these conferences addressed the priority themes of nuclear power from the perspective of the challenges posed by the future of the energy sector and by the climate change. The nuclear energy regains more and more the recognition of its importance in the energy mix of developed countries, but increasing public trust and acceptance is still necessary.

The previous conferences revealed the international research efforts to solve the scientific and technical issues regarding the most competitive systems of nuclear reactors and the problems that affect or limit the acceptance of nuclear power: safety, waste management and environmental protection, ensuring a high professional performance of the staff involved in this area.
