Latest Conference Update - CNS Annual Conference
2012-avr-13

Conference Webpage: www.cns-snc.ca/events/conf2012
Early Bird Registration Deadline – April 29

“Building on our past....Building for the future” is the CNS Annual Conference theme for 2012.

Saskatchewan has a long history with respect to nuclear research and nuclear medicine and has produced many people who chose to make their careers out of things nuclear. You will hear how Saskatchewan is continuing to impact on Canada’s nuclear industry and the impact it proposes to have on Canada’s nuclear future. It was 50 years ago that electricity was first generated in Canada from splitting the atom at NPD-2. You will also have the opportunity to meet legends of Canada’s nuclear industry.

Plenary sessions will address Nuclear in Western Canada, Small Modular Reactors, important milestones and future directions in “Building on our past...Building for the future”, Nuclear Industry Power developments inside and outside of Canada, and finally an update on CANDU projects.

The program can be viewed at http://conf2012.cns-snc.ca (click on the Program tab)

The eclectic Plenary and Student Programs are being finalized and development of the NA-YGN Professional Seminar is progressing well. About 90 papers have been submitted to the Technical Program and review and acceptance of papers is almost complete. The Western Focus Seminar has received about 10 papers.

This CNS Annual Conference to remember is being planned and the organizing committee is looking forward to seeing you at the exciting venues. Avoid disappointment, and extra cost, by registering prior to the Early Bird Registration Deadline of 29April, and also register at one of the two conference hotels.

Registration links and additional information can be found at the conference website, above.

CNS Executive Director Announcement
2012-mar-4

The CNS Council approved a motion at the February Council meeting to appoint Dr. Ben Rouben Executive Director of the CNS on a part time basis. Please see the attachment for details of the announcement.

In his new role, which he has most graciously assumed at no additional compensation, Dr. Rouben will help implement key elements of the CNS Strategic Plan. Consistent with his time constraints, and availability of volunteer help he will focus initially on Branch and Division strategic alignment and growth for the future.

Please join me in welcoming Ben in his new role with the CNS.

Sincerely
Frank W. Doyle
CNS President
