CNS PRESIDENT'S AWARD
This award was established in 1997 to recognize the outstanding
direct or indirect contribution of an individual or individuals to Canadian
society, such contribution being of a nature to have also had a favourable
influence on Canadian nuclear technology. The recipient(s) need not belong
to the nuclear industry, but the work or achievements for which the award
is presented should have been broadly recognized. Considerable latitude
is implied in the criteria for the award.
The award is in the form of an illustrated plaque with a bilingual description outlining concisely the basis for the award.
The award is not intended to be necessarily presented each year, but rather as deserving recipients are identified. It shall be awarded either at the CNA Winter Seminar or at the CNS Annual Conference.
The nomination is the prerogative of the CNS President, who shall submit a written recommendation outlining the reason for the award. The President may receive advice or suggestions from the CNS Council or Executive, but the decision to proceed is with the President. The CNS Council or Executive must approve the nomination by the President.
The CNS President's award has been presented to:
- 2006 - Fred Boyd
- 2002 - Atomic Energy of Canada Limited
- 1997 - The right honourable Jean Chrétien, Prime Minister of Canada
