THE W.B. LEWIS MEDAL


PURPOSE OF THE AWARD:
To recognize a Canadian scientist or engineer who has demonstrated a level of technical competence and accomplishment in the field of nuclear science and engineering as exemplified by the late Dr. W.B. Lewis during his involvement in the Canadian nuclear energy programme, 1946 to 1973.

AWARD DESCRIPTION:
The W.B. Lewis Medal was established in 1973 by the Canadian Nuclear Association in honour of Dr. W.B. Lewis, formerly Senior Vice-President (Science), Atomic Energy of Canada Limited. The medal will be presented in a fine glass frame.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
The criteria to be used in the selection process will include, but are not limited to, the nominee’s competence and accomplishments in the general advancement of nuclear science and engineering in Canada. The nomination letter should include an extensive description of the nominee’s accomplishments, backed by reference letters supporting the nomination from at least three individuals prominent in the industry. Supplementary information on the nominee’s technical and professional background is to be supplied.
