Canadian Nuclear Society’s current position on COVID19 impact on CNS events

SEMINAR ON THE TRANSFER OF COMPETENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE GAINED THROUGH CSNI ACTIVITIES IN THE FIELD OF THERMAL-HYDRAULICS (THICKET2020), CNS CANDU REACTOR TECHNOLOGY & SAFETY COURSE and NUCLEAR 101

Update #1, March 12: Announced the cancellation of he 13TH INTERNATIONAL TOPICAL MEETING ON NUCLEAR REACTOR THERMAL-HYDRAULICS, OPERATION AND SAFETY (NUTHOS13) conference scheduled for Aug 23 – 26 at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre, Vancouver, BC.

Update #2, March 13: Announced the cancellation of 40TH ANNUAL CNS CONFERENCE & 44TH CNS-CNA STUDENT CONFERENCE, May 31 – Jun 3, 2020, Hilton Saint John, Saint John, NB.

UPDATE #3:

Because of the increasing travel restrictions and the threat posed by COVID-19 the following CNS events have been postponed to the fall of 2020 or cancelled:

CNS CANDU REACTOR TECHNOLOGY & SAFETY COURSE and NUCLEAR 101 – postponed to Nov 30 – Dec 2, 2020 at Marriott Downtown Toronto, 475 Yonge St. Toronto, ON M4Y 1X7 (same venue).

NUCLEAR 101 – postponed to the fall of 2020; date & venue to be confirmed. Please monitor the event’s website for updates.

SEMINAR ON THE TRANSFER OF COMPETENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE GAINED THROUGH CSNI ACTIVITIES IN THE FIELD OF THERMAL-HYDRAULICS (THICKET2020) – cancelled; a new date may be determined in June. Please monitor the event’s website for updates.

It is still intended to hold two large events (2ND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON GENERATION IV AND SMALL REACTORS ( G4SR-2) and CANDU Maintenance & Nuclear Components Conference) scheduled for November 2020. Of course, the CNS will continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation and will react accordingly. If participants whose countries get included in the Canadian Government’s COVID019 travel restriction after they have registered, CNS will refund their registration fee.
