CNS Council and Executive Elections for 2022-2023

The CNS Annual General Meeting (AGM) is scheduled for June 5, 2022. At the AGM the Council and Executive for the 2022-2023 term will be announced. Council Members have two roles: one is to participate in the governing process per the Act and the By-Laws and the other is to help the CNS achieve its Strategic Objectives by active participation in the business of the CNS. The election process enables CNS Members to have a direct role in ensuring the sustainability of the CNS.

It is my pleasure as the Chair of the Past Presidents’ Committee that is responsible for the CNS Elections, to invite you to participate in forming the Council of the Canadian Nuclear Society for the period of June 2022 to June 2023 by completing the ‘Call for Nominations to CNS Council 2022-2023 Form’ and returning it to the CNS Office by April 30, 2022. Please note that this requirement also applies to the current members of Council who wish to serve another term. For your information, links to ‘Protocol for Nomination to the Council and for Officer of the CNS ’Code of Conduct and the ‘Conflict of Interest Policy for CNS’ are provided here for your reference.

To help you understand the extent of this commitment, the link to the ‘Expectations and Responsibilities of CNS Council Members’ is also provided.

As you know, the CNS’ objectives are to act as a forum for the exchange of information relating to nuclear science and technology; foster the development and beneficial utilization of nuclear science and technology for peaceful uses; encourage education in, and knowledge about, nuclear science and technology; enhance the professional and technical capabilities of those involved in nuclear science and technology in the Canadian context; and provide a resource of information and communicate to the public, academics, industry and governments concerning issues relating to nuclear science and technology and energy related matters.

Thank you for your continuing support and for your interest to serve on CNS Council,

Aman Usmani
CNS Past-President,
Chair, Past-Presidents’ Committee
